This Privacy Policy applies to SoundMeter, a mobile app published by Nokta Studio under the package name dev.noktastudio.soundmeter.
What SoundMeter does
SoundMeter uses your device microphone to estimate environmental sound levels in real time. The app is designed to show live dB readings, noise categories, session statistics, and optional saved history on your device.
Information we process
SoundMeter is built to minimize data collection. We do not require an account, and the app's core measuring features work without creating a profile or uploading your audio.
- Microphone input: microphone access is used only to measure sound levels while the app is active. Audio is processed on-device in real time. We do not store raw audio recordings, and we do not transmit raw audio to Nokta Studio.
- Local app data: settings such as calibration values, theme preferences, ad preferences, and saved measurement history may be stored locally on your device so the app can function properly.
- User-initiated exports: if you export measurement history, the exported file is created only because you requested it and is handled using your device's sharing options.
Ads, app stores, and third-party services
SoundMeter may display a banner advertisement and may offer store-managed purchases such as ad removal. If those features are used, third-party services may process limited technical information under their own policies.
- Advertising: advertising providers such as Google AdMob may process device or advertising identifiers, diagnostics, and similar technical data to deliver ads.
- App distribution and payments: if you download the app from Google Play or make a purchase through a store, the store operator may process transaction details, device metadata, and related records under its own terms and privacy policies.
- Diagnostics: app stores or platform services may collect crash or performance data independently of Nokta Studio.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the app store, advertising provider, and other platform services you use with SoundMeter.
How we use information
We use the limited information described above to operate the app, save your local preferences, display measurement history on your device, support exports you request, show ads if enabled, and maintain or improve app stability.
How long information is kept
Measurement history and settings stored by SoundMeter remain on your device until you delete them, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
Third-party providers such as Google Play or AdMob may keep their own records according to their own retention policies.
Your choices
- You can deny microphone access, but the core sound measuring feature will not work without it.
- You can delete local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage from your device settings.
- You can choose whether to export measurement history.
- You can manage advertising preferences or permissions through your device and account settings where supported.
Children's privacy
SoundMeter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app itself.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version at this URL and revise the effective date above.
